Glass Sword, by Victoria Aveyard
Mare Barrow is back--the Lightning girl. In this sequel to Red Queen, Mare and her companions are on a mission: collect all Newbloods, a nickname for the Red/Silver blood mutation. The only problem is, Maven, the nice guy-turned bad King, is after the Newbloods too, not to protect and train them, like the Scarlet Guard. No, he wants to take them, kill them or use them for war. The Scarlet Guard can't let Maven get them first. They recruit as many Newbloods as possible, each power being better than the last. But still, these untrained Newbloods have to fight in a war against the Silvers. Can they win, and make Reds equal? Glass Sword was really good! It had a lot of action, easy to get into. However, I liked Red Queen better, I think, just because it was a new world and new story to get into. But Victoria Aveyard has succeeded again in making a thrilling book. 5/5
