Glass Sword, by Victoria Aveyard
Mare Barrow is back--the Lightning girl. In this sequel to Red Queen, Mare and her companions are on a mission: collect all Newbloods, a nickname for the Red/Silver blood mutation. The only problem is, Maven, the nice guy-turned bad King, is after the Newbloods too, not to protect and train them, like the Scarlet Guard. No, he wants to take them, kill them or use them for war. The Scarlet Guard can't let Maven get them first. They recruit as many Newbloods as possible, each power being better than the last. But still, these untrained Newbloods have to fight in a war against the Silvers. Can they win, and make Reds equal? Glass Sword was really good! It had a lot of action, easy to get into. However, I liked Red Queen better, I think, just because it was a new world and new story to get into. But Victoria Aveyard has succeeded again in making a thrilling book. 5/5

To All the Boys I've Loved Before, by Jenny Han Other books: P.S. I Still Love You (Haven't read) Lara Jean is a simple girl; doesn't lke to drive, lives with her father and two sisters, and keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. Why does she do this, you may ask? Well, the love letters will never be shown to the boys, and it gives her a sense of finality with them. There's five letters, one for each boy. Then, one day, the letters get mailed to each boy they're for, and it causes her life to get crazy. Can she handle the pressure of having boys know she loved them? Can she explain that the letters were from a while ago? Do her feeling comes back? Find out! *I still haven't found out because I haven't read the next book* Jenny Han, Social: Instagram: jennyhan Website: http://www.dearjennyhan.com/ Snapchat: missjennyhan Twitter: jennyhan Facebook: dearjennyhan Since You've Been Gone, by Morgan Matson Sloane brought Emily out of her shell; made her confident, made her happier. But then, after 2 years of best friendship, she disappears, leaving Emily with a list of 13 things to do that are completely out of Emily's comfort zone. Then, she must find Sloane and tell her all about it. Some of the things are easy: Apple picking at night, dancing until dawn. And some are a bit of a challenge: Kiss a stranger? Go skinny-dipping? So, Emily doesn't have the summer she expected (especially when Frank Porter gets involved), but can this list help her find Sloane, her best friend? I love contemporary novels, because I feel like they can relate to me. This book was pretty good, but it took me a while to read because the chapter length intimidated me. There was legit like a 60-paged chapter. And then there was a 3-paged one. Bi-polar much? (Just kidding😂) but all in all, it was a good book. 4/5⭐️ PS Guys, this pic is from my Instagram, completely taken with my phone. I finally figured out how to upload them, thank goodness. It took long enough! Cruel Beauty, by Rosamund Hodge Nyx has been destined to marry the evil ruler of her land. Her father had made a deal with the the Gentle Lord for his wife to bear children, however she died, which was not agreed upon. Now Nyx, who will be sent to marry him as part of the deal, was trained to kill him, and avenge her mother. When she arrives at the castle, she doesn't expect to meet who she meets, or love who she loves. Ignifex, the "beast's" name for himself, allows Nyx to guess his name every night, so that she will be free. However, she doesn't realize that this is binding him too. She falls in love with him, so unexpectedly, but still so right. But she still must carry out the promise to her family and avenge her mother's death. What can she do? What will she do? This is a retelling on Beauty and the Beast. Beauty and the Beast is probably my most favorite Disney Princess movies. However, this book was hard for me to get into. I usually read books this size in two to three days, however this one took me about five or six. I don't really know what it was, but the world was complicated for me to understand--it's a mix of Greek mythology and princess/kingdom-ish? I'm not sure. But I usually love retellings! Once I got into it, though, I loved the story. 3/5 stars. Red Queen, by Victoria Aveyard Mare Barrow lives in a world divided by the color of your blood: Silver or Red. She becomes a servant, a discovers her strange power: She can control electricity. Reds never have powers--only Silvers--so this comes as a shock. She falls into a lie--known only by the royal family--to protect her. Mare, however aches for something to be done about the unfairness of the world she lives in. What lengths will she go to to save herself, and all of the Reds? Books: Red Queen, Cruel Crown (short story), Glass Sword *I've only read Red Queen* That Summer, by Sarah Dessen Haven is very, very tall for her age--5'11, and 15. This makes her a little awkward (I can relate you guys--5'7 and 13). Her father has recently cheated on her mother, and is getting married to the woman. Haven's sister, Ashley, is also getting married this summer. But then, one of Ashley's ex-boyfriends shows up, and it sparks memories in Haven's mind: how, the summer they were dating, they went to the beach, and it seemed perfect: Ashley and Sumner were happy and in love, Haven's parents were still together and happy, and everything just seemed...perfect. While reminiscing in the past, Haven comes to terms that the future isn't perfect, and it won't be--ever. The Lunar Chronicles, by Marissa Meyer Books in the Series: Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter Tag-a-Long books: Stars Above: A Collection, Fairest: Levana's Story Cinder: Cinder is a cyborg human, being bullied by her stepsister and stepmother, her only friends being an android and one of her stepsisters, Peony. To add up to all of this, the Lunar Queen Levana is plotting against Earth, and Cinder just might be the one to solve their problems. Can she handle this? Scarlet: Scarlet Benoit is a feisty girl, living with her grandmother. Then one day, her grandmother goes missing, and she doesn't know why. While looking for a reason as to why her grandmother disappeared, she finds out about how dangerous her life could have been, and how tangled up her previous relative's lives were. Then she meets Wolf, a strange street fighter who may know information about her grandmother. They seem drawn to each other. As they go about on their adventure, they run into Cinder and Thorne, the thief that she took under her wing while they were in jail, and they must stay away from the previously mentioned evil Lunar Queen Levana who will stop at nothing to have Kai as her "king," er...husband...well, actually...as her prisoner. Cress: Cress is a teenage shell. A Lunar shell is someone who is completely immune to a glamour--a type of mask that Lunar's use to fibb about their appearances. Shells can't put on a glamour, and they can see through everyone else's. Shells are typically taken away for their blood to be made into a plague cure, but Cress escaped. She permenantly lives in a shuttle in space where she takes care of all of the newsfeeds, hacking, and computer needs for Luna--and Levana. But she's never been exposed to anyone except Sybil--her caretaker--and her computer. Then one day, she is rescued by Cinder, Scarlet, Wolf, and Thorne. (She is quite attracted to Thorne) But their group gets broken up, and they must reunite to overcome Levana, who is still determined to have Kai. Winter: Princess Winter is beautiful, admired by all people, even with the scars on her face, caused by Levana. Of course, Levana and Winter don't get along, for Winter's beauty is said to be greater than Levana's glamour. Winter has been disobeying Levana for quite a time, including when Witner falls for her childhod friend and present guard, Jacin. Even with her rumored "craziness," she is still stronger than many people will believe her to be. Because of this, she plans to join Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and their companions in overthrowing Levana and creating the revolutionary of a lifetime. Can they overcome Levana?
